Natural Inspiration

I have been merging the beauty of metals, leather and gemstones together since falling in love with jewelry design. What began as a hobby after taking my first beading class, my craft gradually expanded into an artisan market that reflects a desire to convert simple elements of nature into wearable art. My designs are inspired by a love of the outdoors and the splendor of Montana’s landscape has offered much inspiration.

Holden Mountain Designs creates quality, captivating jewelry for a chic and minimalist lifestyle--whether you’re wearing a t-shirt and jeans or a little black dress. The concept of each piece combines my favorite materials: sterling silver, pewter, gemstones, freshwater pearls and genuine leather.

Whats in a name?

"So where is Holden Mountain?" I have been asked this question many times over the years. I actually looked it up once and there is a Holden Mountain in Arkansas. However the inspiration for Holden Mountain Design (HMD) comes from a remote, little village in Washington state. It is a magical place nestled in the beautiful Cascade Mountains (hence the mountain part of HMD). It is located at the top of the fjord-like Lake Chelan. There is no road to Holden Village but it is reached by a scenic 16 mile ferry ride up Lake Chelan and then a somewhat harrowing 10 mile bus ride up into the Cascades. It started in the 30's as a mining village and is now owned and operated by the Lutheran Church as a retreat. This idyllic village is where is my mom called home during her childhood. My dad would later immigrate to the Chelan area from Canada. I have been lucky enough to visit Holden on a number of occasions and it will always hold a very special place in my heart.
